Allegri

Kind of a nasty day.
Dark in the morning, dark in the evening compared to even a month ago.
There were spots of light throughout the all-day-rain  but the lighting was kind of nice - if you could catch it.
We managed to catch Allegri in between.
If you zoom in, you can see the flag pretty clearly.

Afanasiy Matyushenko

Second day in a row of torrential rain late in the afternoon. Rivers of muddy water poured into the Bosphorous, as you can see off the Asian shore behind Afanasiy Matyushenko and the accompanying shot of smaller cruise boats a little earlier.

Omskiy99 first appeared well out from the shore - a smallish ship heading north rather slowly. That's a pretty sure sign that something larger is coming up behind her. Sure enough, a few minutes later, there's Luebeck on the inside shipping lane.

Hansa Marburg

We were right down on the water next to her, but without a decent camera.
The proximity makes up for the low resolution, but it would have been a lot nicer if we had had a decent camera. She was the first of the ships heading south today - the maritime authorities switch the direction of traffic every few hours, and there was no traffic in either direction when we first went out on the water.

Sider Dream

The Panama flag is pretty clearly visible.

This, after maybe a week of non-stop rain (Doesn't make for good photo opps, so we have been hard pressed to come up wtth material). Add to that our hectic daily schedule: so we are back to you with another rather generic shot - one from the SIDER family, but a new one from that family - we have seen Sider Luck and Sider Joy, so this is a first for Sider Dream.

She appears to be loaded/full since she is sitting pretty low in the water.

Vitaspirit

 

An accident on the Bosphorous today where apparently the steering for Vitaspirit locked up and sent her crashing into one of the waterfront villas, totally demolishing the old wooden structure at about 4:30 PM. There are news articles in Turkish here.

We caught one shot of the vessel as the removal was just starting and then waited an hour while the city puts its resources to work, sending as many as 10 emergency vessels to the scene to help tow the carrier to the southern edge of the city.
